When I was a girl, my best friend’s family was Hungarian and they made a recipe much like this one but with the addition of noodles and poppy seeds. I always asked to visit my friend when I knew her mother was making the dish. Such happy memories. I will make it for sure.

Hi Rachel, I grew up on the farm eating fried cabbage a lot. My Mom always cooked it in bacon grease. Never had it with the onion. Will try that along with bacon.
