Comfort Corn Chowder has it allโsweet corn, satisfying potatoes and mouth watering baconโall in one easy to make soup!
This soup is comfort in a bowl. Itโs filling, warm, hearty, and delicious. We love soup at our house, and we especially love chowders for their satisfying and creamy texture. This soup is full of flavor and scrumptious ingredients that simply make you feel good. Sweet, crisp corn, softened onion, and chunky potatoes are swimming in a creamy, flavorful chowder. Oh, yum!
Canned Corn:
You can use canned corn if you donโt have fresh corn, but we recommend using frozen corn whenever possible, as it retains a closer texture and flavor to fresh corn.
Potato Options:
Yukon Gold or Red potatoes are best for soups and stews, as they donโt break down as fast as Russet potatoes, which are too starchy and become grainy.
Is Comfort Corn Chowder gluten free?
Due to the flour, this recipe is not gluten-free as written. If you would like to make this recipe gluten-free, you can use 1 ยฝ tablespoons of cornstarch instead of the flour
Bacon: Optional?
No. Bacon is optional. It adds a lot of flavor and texture, but if you donโt enjoy it or have it on hand, this chowder is awesome even without it.
Cream Substitutes:
We highly recommend the use of cream in this soup. It makes it ultra rich and indulgent. If needed, you can always substitute with half and half. Half and half is a mixture of half cream and half whole milk. Using half and half in place of cream will lighten the texture and change the flavor, and is an option that we use frequently. To substitute, simply use half heavy cream and half milk in the amounts a recipe calls for.
Alternatively, you can always substitute heavy cream with 3/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup melted butter, thoroughly mixed.
Storage and Reheating Instructions:
Store your soup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat in a saucepan on the stovetop over medium-low heat until warmed through.

Was very delicious and so simple.i added some left over roasted chicken. My husband thought I spent all day making it!
So simple yet so flavorful! My daughter is vegetarian so I used vegetable stock instead of chicken broth and topped with green onion and cheddar cheese. This recipe is a keeper!
I made this tonight and it is fabulous! I used maple bacon with peppercorn edge – the bacon adds that extra touch – really delicious. This will be a frequent fall/winter meal at our house. Thank you.
I was making my own chicken, corn and potato chowder and needed a gravy type sauce to make it more soupy. I tried your recipe and it turned out very tasty, all it needed was a little more salt, some pepper and a bit of parsley.. I’ll be making this again. Thank you for the idea.
Hi, I am looking for a chowder that has more than just corn for veggies & doesnโt include seafood. I canโt seem to find one so I am trying to piece together a few recipes, however I am not a great cook. Your chicken, corn, potato chowder sounds perfect! Do you have a recipe youโd be willing to share? Thank you (:
Alexa, I made this tonight and followed the recipe but added chicken and cheese. I did add a little extra broth, 1 cup, 5 cups of cornโฆ it was delicious. I served with corn bread, cheese, bacon and Avocado. Next time I am going to set out a little crushed red pepper flakes to give it a little spice.
We served this last night for Christmas Eve and enjoyed it very much. It was delicious and disappeared quickly. Thank you!!!
May be sacrilege but I used can of potatoes to cut down on prep time. Tastes great ?
This corn chowder recipe is the best I have ever had. My husband loves it. I love it because I donโt eat seafood so clam chowder is not an opinion
Youcould cook the bacon in the pan first, and use some of that fat to make your roux. This would add that welcome element of flavor.
This was the best corn chowder ever!!! My husband, bless his heart, made this for us tonight and I now have a new favorite! Thank you!!
This looks like 100% comfort food material. I'll be eating it in the next week.
