There are hundreds of varieties of apples so it can be hard to know which to purchase. There are a number of commonly sold apples that are great for baking. Other yellow and red varieties that are good for baking include Golden Delicious, Honey Crisp, Braeburn, Jonathan, Fuji, and Pink Lady. Check the apple for freshness, it should be nice and hard. What a perfect recipe to welcome fall. We’ve cut out sugar from our foods and have found a paste made from simmered dates works as a great substitute. It will be perfect in my apple holes! 🙂
I made just like the recipe but only had walnuts and it was excellent. Served with Vanilla ice cream with A touch of caramel sauce drizzled on top. My husband drizzled a little caramel sauce on his apple since he has a sweet tooth. He said I could make this every day for him!!
