How do I make sure I make 12 even sized pretzels?
Weigh the dough in ounces before dividing the dough. Divide the weight by 12. This will tell you how much each dough ball should weigh. As you are pinching dough off, weigh each one and add or remove dough as needed to keep them a similar size. You can also eyeball it, and keep them about the size of golf balls.

How hot of water do I need? Whatโs the best method for this?
The easiest option is to simply use the hottest water possible from the tap. It does not have to be boiling, but you do want it very hot. Other options are to microwave, boil on stove, or use an electric hot water kettle.

Are there any flavor variations I can make?
Yes, there are so many flavors that work well with pretzels! Cinnamon and sugar is a popular flavor. To make these, simply sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top after brushing the pretzels with melted butter. Another favorite is cheese pretzels. After dunking in the baking soda mixture, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top right before baking. You will not want to brush melted butter on top of any cheese pretzels, as you do not want the added grease.

Thank you for sharing this recipe. We just made these – we just made them as pretzel bites – and our entire family ate them right off the baking tray as soon as we buttered and salted them! We made a quick cheese dip & a sweet dip and it was such a fun, easy and amazingly delicious treat! I know weโll be doing this again often!
These pretzels are amazing!! We do them with salt and cinnamon sugar! The only bad thing about these pretzels is my kids request them once a week now!! Luckily they are easy and fast to make!
These are wonderful! Best pretzel recipe and so easy to make. I didn’t change a thing in the recipe and will definitely be making these again.
Well I have to say, the only reason I’m giving 5 Stars is because after all the crap I went through to make them they are incredibly good . . .
AND, I have to say . . . my cinnamon sugar pretzels are almost as good as Auntie Anne’s {I actually brushed on an abundance of butter and then sprinkled my cinnamon sugar on top of that when they were hot}
But . . .
1. I don’t have fast acting yeast here in Colombia, and it took over 4 hours for my batter/dough to adequately rise.
2. The batter / dough was EXTREMELY sticky. I had to not only flour my hands repeatedly, but my board as well.
So keeping those little tidbits in mind when I make them again, they ARE amazing, and they get 5 stars from me ๐ฏ๐ฅฐโฃ๏ธ
I think I’m going to use this recipe to make the “nuggets” like Auntie Anne’s
