How do I make sure I make 12 even sized pretzels?
Weigh the dough in ounces before dividing the dough. Divide the weight by 12. This will tell you how much each dough ball should weigh. As you are pinching dough off, weigh each one and add or remove dough as needed to keep them a similar size. You can also eyeball it, and keep them about the size of golf balls.

How hot of water do I need? Whatโs the best method for this?
The easiest option is to simply use the hottest water possible from the tap. It does not have to be boiling, but you do want it very hot. Other options are to microwave, boil on stove, or use an electric hot water kettle.

Are there any flavor variations I can make?
Yes, there are so many flavors that work well with pretzels! Cinnamon and sugar is a popular flavor. To make these, simply sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top after brushing the pretzels with melted butter. Another favorite is cheese pretzels. After dunking in the baking soda mixture, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top right before baking. You will not want to brush melted butter on top of any cheese pretzels, as you do not want the added grease.

Soooo goooood … best recipe for pretzels that I have tried … and the easiest! I do brush mine with egg before baking and bake them on parchment paper instead of a greased pan .. just a habit๐. I form them all in twisted sticks and bake two for hubby and me. The other sticks of dough I roll in Saran Wrap and freeze. When I use them I thaw them in the microwave … only about 8 seconds then brush them with egg and the salt and bake. Love keeping them on hand in the freezer! Thanks for a great and easy recipe! Sending it to my kids!
I just finished making them they were so good and soft hubby came home and made a b-line for the stove and polished off two cheers from Richmond, BC ๐จ๐ฆ I coated them with butter and a bit of salt yummy, meant to dip it in some mustard but forgot. I will on my next one yummy
Btw I’m curious what exactly does the baking soda do to them in the hot water?
I have a question…my dough was very sticky. Like I was unable to get it off my hands and was unable to roll them. We ended up throwing the dough away. Can someone please tell me what I did wrong as my family is dying to try these? Thanks in advance
I have to make these for my grandson. He loves soft pretzels
Super easy and delicious! Weren’t nearly as pretty as yours but it didn’t matter – they were gone before anyone noticed.
These are by far the absolute best pretzels I have ever made.
Super easy and yummy!!!
Best pretzels Iโve made so far. Amazing recipe.
The recipe is good but even at 500 degrees it doesn’t get golden brown at 6 minutes so I recommend 8 minutes and flip them over at half way so the bottom of your pretzels won’t burn.
Thatโs the equipmentโฆ not the recipe!
Your top element or burner probably isnโt working properly!
This is a keeper recipe! So easy and yummy!
Wow,these were absolutely delicious!! Definitely added to my cookbook of favorite recipes!! Thanks so much!!
