This easy and satisfying Slow Cooker Turkey Soup lets you use up your leftover turkey in an easy soup that you can make in the crockpot.
Slow Cooker Turkey Soup is the perfect way to use your leftover turkey, but doesnโt taste like youโre eating leftovers. This soup is hearty, satisfying, flavorful, filling, and healthy. We just love it! If you have leftovers after chicken night, or a lot of leftover turkey, this is a great soup to make in advance and freeze for a rainy (or sick) day. Seriously, turkey soup for the soul that doesnโt require you to be on your feet all dayโyou deserve a break!
Potato Options for Slow Cooker Turkey Soup:
We recommend Yukon Gold potatoes. They hold up in a soup better than russets, and donโt create a grainy, starchy texture in your soup.
Sodium Control:
If you want to better control the total amount of sodium in your soup, we highly recommend using low-sodium chicken broth.
What is poultry seasoning?
Poultry seasoning is a great pantry staple, as it contains the main herbs and spices found in most poultry and soup recipes. It reduces the amount of ingredients you would otherwise be purchasing and measuring out.
Can I make this with chicken?
Yes. This soup is perfect for chicken too, whether that is leftover from a whole chicken, or you just want to make a simple, yummy chicken soup from scratch.
Can this soup be frozen?
Yes. This soup is great to have on hand for day when you need soup but you donโt feel like making it. Be sure to place your soup in an airtight container and to mark it with the date it was made. It can freeze for up to 3 months.
Storage and Reheating Instructions:
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat in a saucepan on the stovetop over medium-low heat until warmed through.

Thank you for the recipe! I also added a couple bay leaves and a little thyme, but what really improved the flavor for me was some lemon juice. Really brightened it up. ๐
Excellent soup! I made it on the stove instead of a crock pot and used turkey stock instead of chicken. It was a hit at dinner and my husband said โI will cook you a turkey just so you can make the soup again.โ He makes excellent soups and referred to this one as โmagnificentโ.
I tried the recipe first. Delicious. THEN I improvised to respect the chef. Loads of onions, potatoes, carrots, balsamic, garlic, soy sauce, penne pasta at the end with the turkey (all white for you Midwesterners and Southerners), A1, minced garlic, till I got the right taste. Came out fab in my lodge dutch oven made in America.
I couldnโt wait to make this recipe again this year with my leftover turkey! Itโs my second year making it. I made a few tweaks to how I like my soups but the rest was exactly how it was written. Added thyme, bay leaf and one can of cream of chicken soup for added thickness. LOVE this soup! Now I donโt end up throwing away leftover turkey. Thank you so much for sharing this.
This recipe is what I was hoping to find. I made turkey broth last night with the turkey carcass. Wonder if I can substitute Reams frozen egg noodles for the potatoes? Or, can I use russets instead of Yukon Gold? Russets are what I have on hand. I always look forward to making your easy to follow recipes. Thank you
Really really good! Everyone had seconds. I did it on the stove top and made a roux at the beginning to thicken it up a bit. Love the poultry seasoning addition. This soup warms the soul. I will definitely make it again.
Made this with left over turkey and is was very good and today I will use chicken instead of the turkey!!!
Thank you for this recipe! I made it with leftover turkey during Thanksgiving. Delicious! I shared with a friend. The last 2 weeks, my friend has been fighting covid 19. She has not been able to keep any food down, so I have been worried about her. I have been asking what I could do for her. Yesterday, she asked me to make this soup for her. I am taking it by today and leaving a large container for her and her husband on her doorstep. So glad that she loved the soup and remembered it from November when I shared with her. Praying for her and her husband, and thankful that I found your recipe so I could help her during this needful time in her life.
I made this soup thinking that it couldnโt taste as good as my old school boil the turkey for the broth soup. I was very wrong. Iโm not sure how but itโs really good and honestly I would make this rather than deal with picking turkey or chicken bits out of bones etc. I used half leftover turkey breast meat and the rest was boiled chicken breast. Sooo yummy!
Made this soup tonight with my leftover Christmas turkey that I had frozen. It was delicious! I did add a little corn starch to thicken up the brother, but other than that I followed the recipe. So good!
