2014 has been a big year for me. It is the year I became a published author. It has been a surreal experience. You can go buy my book HERE
. Writing a cookbook devoted to slow cooking is no small feat. You haven’t mastered the slow cook until you have 7 of them going on your counter at the same time. It can get crazy.
Even after all that slow cooked food, we haven’t gotten tired of it. I’ve had a rough December and getting dinner on the table hasn’t been easy. Slow cooker to the rescue! This particular recipe is killer. The smell as it cooked all day was driving me nuts. I could hardly wait for dinner! It smells great and tastes great. You’ll love the flavors of a Chinese BBQ sauce. Serve it with some stir fried veggies, rice, or if you really want to go for it, make some steamed buns.
Thank you for a wonderful year! Seriously, it wouldn’t be possible without the hundreds of thousands of people that come visit my site each month. You have helped my dreams come true. Thank you!

This is yummy. Made it with a 3lb butt. And family loves it. If I make with an 8lb, should I double liquid?
Yes
Question: do you see any issues making the sauce a few days in advance? Obviously, I will have to whisk it together again before adding to the crockpot. I’d like to make this while on vacation, but I don’t want to bring all of the ingredients separately. Thanks!
Yes, I think it could work.
Decent flavor. I shredded the meat, placed in a deep dish lined with foil on high broil to get some crispy ends. Drizzle shredded meat with sauce before placing in broiler. That always makes any slow cooker pulled meat more appealing to me. Thanks for the recipe!
Made this Friday night and it came out really well. Thanks! Hope this link to my finished product works here.

Darn! I can't see it! (And I do love to see the finished product)
Mine looks nothing like the pic. How did you get it so dark and soaked through with the bbq?
If you shred it right in the slow cooker you can mix it around in the sauce and it should look just like it is pictured above.
* * *That’s a good tip. . .
I also like the idea of spooning the gravy over some veggies. . .
OR
just having it available in a gravy bowl… (grin)
Some guests might want MORE sauce. . .
I’ll post some photos when I serve it tonight. . .
(sigh)
I can’t wait. . .
I cooked this overnight and it smells great! Is there anything I can do with the gravy? Seems too good to throw out.
You could spoon it over some sauteed vegetables, or over some cooked rice. Both would be tasty!
Gorgeous pics. Congratulations on the recipe book too! I hope to write one too one day ๐
Thanks Nicky! Keep on chasing your dream. Seriously, you never know what might happen!
This looks so delicious! Adding it to my slow cooker recipes file and can't wait to make it!
I'd love to see a photo with those 7 slow cookers going at once! Congratulations on becoming a published author in 2014.
This looks mouth wateringly delicious!
Love this! What a great change up from the typical bbq pulled pork. Beautiful photos!
