Why Our Recipe
- Melt-in-your-mouth fudge made with just four simple ingredients.
- Sweetened condensed milk ensures a creamy, smooth consistency without any grittiness.
- This fudge is made entirely in the microwave, offering the quickest method with minimal cleanup.
This is the ultimate classic fudge recipe, giving you the flexibility to customize the taste and texture. Add toppings or flavors to suit your taste or complement a special event. Perfect for satisfying a random fudge craving, making for the holidays, or preparing ahead for a bake sale, this fudge is easy, delicious, and creamy. Honestly, what more could you want in a fudge?
Ingredient Notes
- White Chocolate: We like to use high-quality white chocolate chips for the best flavor. You can also use vanilla melting wafers or vanilla almond bark.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk: This is the secret ingredient that adds sweetness and gives your fudge its smooth, creamy texture. Donโt skip it! Evaporated milk is not the same.
- Peanut Butter: Creamy peanut butter gives the perfect smooth texture, but if you prefer a little crunch, you can also use chunky peanut butter. DO NOT use a natural peanut butter in this recipe as results will vary. We recommend Jiff or Skippy.
- Vanilla Extract: Use pure vanilla extract for the best flavor.
Adding Nuts
You can use a chunky style of peanut butter in this recipe rather than the smooth style. Or you can also add 1/2 cup of roughly chopped peanuts into the fudge mixture just before pouring it into your pan to refrigerate.
Variations
This classic fudge recipe is a perfect base for adding your favorite flavors and mix-ins. Here are some ideas to get creative:
Flavor Extracts: Swap out or complement the vanilla extract with almond or chocolate extract. Use 1/2 teaspoon.
Nuts: Stir in 1/2 to 1 cup of chopped walnuts, pecans, pistachios, or almonds for crunch.
Marshmallows: Fold in mini marshmallows after stirring the fudge for a gooey twist.
Sprinkles: Top the fudge with colorful sprinkles for festive fun.
Microwaving Fudge
All ingredients can be combined directly in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high in 30-second increments, stirring in between. Avoid microwaving for too long or in longer periods, as this can cause the chocolate to burn and become grainy. The ingredients will continue to melt as you stir, so it’s best to stop and stir until only small lumps remain.
Storage Instructions
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container preferably in a plastic storage container or a resealable plastic bag, but you can also wrap it in aluminum foil. It will stay good in the fridge for about 3 weeks.
It’s easy as pie
It is so smooth and creamy and very easy to make.
Hi from Australia,
I am new to cooking and was wondering if this can be made without peanut butter or will I have to adjust the recipe to suit?
Cheers
Steph
You cannot make peanut butter fudge without peanut butter.
I would also like it without peanut butter!!!
Might give it a try without!! ?
Substitute peanut butter with 12 oz of semi sweet chocolate chips for chocolate fudge.
Steph, try almond or cashew butter if peanut butter isn’t agreeable
For years (about twenty!!!) I have been testing recipes for peanut butter fudge in an effort to replicate one a co-worker made, under a well guarded secret recipe. I have finally found it! This is the one! The taste and texture of this peanut butter fudge is simply superior, and I could not be more thrilled to have found it. Thanks! My hunt is finally over.
