Cherry Balsamic Barbecue Sauce is easy to make, sweet, tangy and oh so delicious on just about anything! Stock up on some fresh cherries and let’s get cooking!
Oh. My. This stuff is delicious! It is sweet, with that wonderful cherry flavor. You could throw a jalapeno in the mix to give it a kick, but I kept it straight forward to maximize the ways I could use it. Whether you use it as a BBQ sauce or glaze, a sauce over some braised meat, or a dip you’ll have yourself the beautiful flavors of summer in a bright, flavorful barbecue sauce.
TIP: Using fresh cherries and wonder how you should pit them? I slice off the stem and then just use my fingers to pinch the pit out. It’s actually super easy and makes it go a lot faster than trying to slice off all the flesh of the cherry around the pit.

What should I make with cherry balsamic barbecue sauce?
Cherry Balsamic Barbecue Sauce goes fantastic with roast chicken or even ribs! You can use this in place of traditional barbecue sauce in practically any recipe.

How long will it last in the fridge?
Homemade barbecue sauce does not keep as long as store bought, so you will want to use all of your barbecue sauce within 1 week, and keep it stored in the fridge.ย

Yes! If you want to use frozen cherries simply let them thaw on the counter before using. You may even find already pitted frozen cherries at your grocery store, saving you some time!

could you use rainier (golden) cherries for this recipe?
Yes, it would change the flavor (and color) slightly, but I bet it would be delicious.
I made this and added a 1/4 tsp of liquid smoke and a pear cinnamon “balsamic vinegar”. Crazy yummy.
I JUST FINISHED COOKING THIS BBQ SAUCE AND…OMG MY HUSBAND IS ABOUT TO CRY!!! TOOK BABY BACK RIBS OUT OF THE FREEZER. WILL HAVE THEM ON MONDAY WITH THE SAUCE!!! WE CANNOT WAIT!!!
Hello! I made this sauce like almost a month ago and forgot to use the leftovers since because of vacation. It smells good and has no signs of mold, do you think it’s still safe to eat? I’d be sad to throw it away, it was so good!
Well….there’s only one way to find out! My husband would never eat it, but I’m a little more liberal when it comes to how long things can stay good in the fridge. I just go by the smell test. Smells good, looks good, probably is good!
Holy Cow!! This recipe is a keeper!! I doubled the recipe and canned some in jelly jars for gifts!! The only thing I did differently is I replaced 1 cup of the regular ketchup with 1 cup of sriracha ketchup and it made it a little spicy. I will absolutely make this again!!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for taking the time to come back and comment.
Can you can this recipe?
Yes, I’m sure you could.
Hi there! I was just wondering how long it lasts after I dispense it into jars? Thanks so much!!
Have you ever canned this? Just wondering how I could preserve this to enjoy all year?
Yes, I canned this recipe in jelly jars. 20 min in a water bath. Time depends on your altitude but a pint or 1/2 pint are the same time. To be on the safe side you can bath for 35 min. which is the longest needed.
in process of making this now! It smells soooooooooo amazing! minutes away from blending!
Woohoo! I hope it turned out great. It's one of my favorites!
HI , haveyou ever tried sour Evans Cherries with this recipe

Thanks for taking the time to come back! I'm so glad you liked it. I found that it is so good on so many things. I'm thinking of giving it out as a Christmas gift myself!
