Juicy thick cut pork chops are simple to prepare and the result can rival any traditional beef steak. Learn how to make the perfect thick cut pork chops with this simple method.
Juicy thick cut pork chops are simple to prepare and the result can rival any traditional beef steak. I’m not even kidding! And they are way cheaper to buy too. I call them my secret weapon when it comes to feeding a crowd on a special occasion.
Making a perfect pork chop is completely easy. If you haven’t had a thick cut pork chop before, well, prepare to fall in love with pork chops. Those thin, flimsy chops you see all over the grocery store dry out easily and lack the complete flavor pork chops have to offer.
You can buy a thick cut chop at almost any grocery, but you’ll probably have to ask for it. Just head on over to the meat counter and ask for a 1 1/2 to 2 inch thick cut pork chop. If you’ve got a good butcher, they will probably smile at your request. Keeping the bone-in helps retain both flavor and moisture, and cutting it thick practically ensures a juicy result.
Have a smoker? I also have a post detailing How to Smoke A Thick Cut Pork Chop that you should check out. Smokers are an amazing way to cook almost any meat. If you don’t already have a smoker, you should seriously consider getting one.

Well, I’m making these for dinner tonight, and I’m HOPING it WILL be a 5 star recipe?I am confident and connot wait…
This recipe is perfect!! My husband said he doesn’t know why we’d ever go out to a steakhouse again–he loved the pork chops that much! Since we have little kids, I cut the pork before dinner, and I put all the cut pieces back in the cast iron skillet to soak in the drippings before distributing them to our plates. The result was so flavorful and delicious!
This is my go to recipe for thick cut chops! I also add some smoked paprika when seasoning them for searing! The salt & the smoky sweet combo is awesome! Thank you for this no fail, super easy recipe!
I made these a couple of days ago. They were delicious! Seared perfectly on the outside and juicy on the inside. They were approximately 1 1/2 inches thick. Thank you for an easy and tasty recipe.
I tried this recipe yesterday and got amazing results! After ruining thick-cut pork chops for years, I finally got a juicy, tender, delicious pork chop! I can’t wait to cook pork chops again!
Thank you, Stay at Home Chef!
I had two thick cut jalapeรฑo pork chops to cook last night and used this method. They already had a jalapeรฑo seasoning on them but I rubbed on the olive oil and followed the recipe to a โT.โ They were absolutely amazing!!

My family loves this recipe! We use Tony Chachere’s instead of salt/pepper and it’s awesome! We like a little spice in it! LOL Thanks for the great recipe!
Excellent! I will not willingly go back to the thin and dry pork chips!
