Drizzle it over roasted veggies, add it to your cheese boards, or mix it into marinades for a sweet and spicy kick. You can stash it in the pantry and have it ready to go anytime you need a little extra flavor. Trust me, once you try this, even the store-bought hot honey wonโt cut it anymore!
Ingredient Notes
- Honey: Use any honey you have on hand. Ideally you’ll want to use a neutral honey like a generic clover or wildflower honey.
- Crushed Red Pepper Flakes: These are the first layer of heat. f you want a milder version, feel free to use a little less.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: This adds the perfect tang to balance out the sweetness.
- Hot Sauce: This is where you can get creative! Frank’s, Cholula, or Valentina are good standard options to start. Feel free to use your favorite hot sauce and experiment with one of the many amazing and sometimes creative options out there!
- Cayenne Pepper: The final layer of heat.
Uses for Hot Honey
Hot honey can be used as a condiment for almost anything! The two most common options you’ll see are to drizzle it over pizza or fried chicken. Hot honey is also great with cheese so you could serve it on a charcuterie board or drizzle it over a loaf of goat cheese or a wheel of baked brie. Don’t limit yourself though. Drizzle honey over roasted vegetables and give them some sweet heat. Just think what a little hot honey could do to avocado toast! One of our favorites is to combine peaches and burrata and drizzle hot honey over the top.
Storage Instructions
Store the hot honey in a jar at room temperature for up to 3 months. If it crystallizes, simply reheat it on the stove over low heat until it returns to its liquid state.
I made this! Sooooo good!! Thank you for sharing ๐
Can you just use cayenne pepper and not chili flakes, I don’t like the look of the flakes??!! Thank you.
You definitely can, it will just have a slightly different heat profile to it.
