Well hello there! I’m Rachel and I really love food! I started cooking at age 11 when I put a half cup of baking soda into a batch of cookies instead of a half teaspoon. Because…what’s the worst that could happen, right? The cookies were a spectacular fail and it got me interested in cooking. I’ve taken courses on cooking every chance I’ve gotten in life. It has amassed to several years of culinary education. Thanks to the wonderful internet world I’ve been able to pursue my dream of cooking, all while staying at home.
Not only do I share recipes on this blog, I do recipe development for various food brands, and I even published a cookbook. I’ve been contacted by The Food Network and various production companies and I’ve turned them all down in favor of producing my own cooking show online on Facebook, Facebook Watch, and YouTube! Sometimes it seems like a lot, but like I said, I freakin’ love food. And I love sharing that love with others.
Obviously food is my greatest passion in life, but I suppose there is a little more to me than just food. I am a wife and the mother of two school-aged children who are part of The Stay At Home Chef team. They often help in cooking and even appear in some of my videos. My husband, the go-to taste tester and programming expert, is a Computer Engineer and has his own “nerd blog” if you are into that kind of thing. Together, the four of us make up The Stay At Home Chef team. But we’re not the only bloggers in the family. You can check out my super talented sister who shares crafts, DIY, recipes, and lifestyle tips over at The Craft Patch. Then there’s my dad who shares geology travel information over at Roc Doc Travel.
I suffer from a rare autoimmune disease. After experiencing congestive heart failure, liver failure, and kidney failure while I was pregnant with my second child, my life was spared when my doctors finally figured out I had Addison’s Disease. John F. Kennedy had it too, so that pretty much makes me cool. The disease ravaged my body and left me disabled. I even have a handicap placard. Instead of wallowing in pity I’ve chosen to defy my condition and find ways to revel in life despite my disability. Despite my best efforts, it still plays a major role in my every day life. (you can read the long story here).
I love to connect with readers! No really, I do! If you’d like to contact me you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also find me on instagram, google+, facebook, pinterest, and twitter. Phew! That’s a lot of places!
