I’ve had this idea rolling around in my head for a long time. I think about it every time I eat a sweet biscuit. It’s a thing that’s been around for a while, but it’s about dang time I actually came up with a recipe for you! Sweet, fluffy biscuits topped with chocolate gravy. Now that’s my idea of a biscuit and gravy recipe!
Did you know that some kinds of butter have a higher fat content? Why would you care, right? Well, the fat content of butter can not only taste better, but it can work better in baking and pastry making. It’s that science part of baking. I used Plugra butter in this recipe in order to utilize their higher fat content in these butter-based biscuits. The result is a flaky, butter biscuit topped with ooey, gooey, chocolate gravy. Now that is pure deliciousness.
I love this I grew up with this it was out occasional sweet treat we I think had the semi- chocolate but it was awesome I definitely remember that part I’m glad you posted this because I could not get it from my mom or grandmother they unfortunately all passed away so I’m very grateful you did this brings back some wonderful memories for me.😔🙂

I so glad someone finally put this recipe together because me and my sister and 2 brothers grew up on homemade sweet biscuits and chocolate gravey yummy it is —-now I can make it again this recipe (not written) has been around since the 1950’s thank you so much for writing the recipe down.
Growing up in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolins, USA, my Mama made chocolate gravy as a treat every Sunday morning. It was made with cocoa powder and flour but this is a good recipe, too. Never had sweet biscuits before but these went well with the chocolate gravy. Thank you for sharing.
I did too Janice except my mom gave it to us as a treat if we didn’t have a cake, pie, or ice cream we had chocolate gravy and biscuits sometimes we had it for breakfast it is

So funny – I'm not really a biscuits and gravy girl, at least not the savory kind. But when I saw this combination, I was immediately smitten – such a fun twist. With a few raspberries, I could call this dinner – or brunch – or breakfast – or lunch:)
Oh this looks amazing!! And Plugra is my favorite butter!!! Reminds me of the delicious butter I enjoyed while studying abroad in Normandy! 🙂

Chocolate Gravy my mother made this for me when I was a little girl and it was so good i still have the recipe it was made with flour cocoa powder milk and a little sugar and after it thickened she would pour it over my smushed biscuit (I was about 5 years old) so yes this chocolate gravy was out there back in 1955-1959
