Juicy thick cut pork chops are simple to prepare and the result can rival any traditional beef steak. I’m not even kidding! And they are way cheaper to buy too. I call them my secret weapon when it comes to feeding a crowd on a special occasion.
Making a perfect pork chop is completely easy. If you haven’t had a thick cut pork chop before, well, prepare to fall in love with pork chops. Those thin, flimsy chops you see all over the grocery store dry out easily and lack the complete flavor pork chops have to offer.
You can buy a thick cut chop at almost any grocery, but you’ll probably have to ask for it. Just head on over to the meat counter and ask for a 1 1/2 to 2 inch thick cut pork chop. If you’ve got a good butcher, they will probably smile at your request. Keeping the bone-in helps retain both flavor and moisture, and cutting it thick practically ensures a juicy result.
Have a smoker? I also have a post detailing How to Smoke A Thick Cut Pork Chop that you should check out. Smokers are an amazing way to cook almost any meat. If you don’t already have a smoker, you should seriously consider getting one.

Absolutely the BEST way I’ve found to fix these chops. I got mine at Walmart on clearance the first time I fixed these but they were so tasty that I now spend the money to buy them at the regular price. The ones I get at Walmart are 1 1/2″ thick.
Just comes out perfect every time!!!!
The best pork chops I have ever eaten in my life.
I made these tonight after finding thick cut pork chops marked down. DELICIOUS
With my oven I think I’ll cut down the time by 3 mins or so. Hubby loved them too. I wish I could add a photo cuz they looked just like yours. THANK YOU
This pork chop was absolutely amazing ๐
I will confess that I am not the worldโs best cook but I was determined to finally be able to make a decent pork chop. Soโฆ here I was at this site hoping to finally score raves from my poor deserving husband who has put up with my less than stellar pork chops through the years. These chops sent our taste buds through the roof with pork chop ecstasy! I followed this recipe to a tee and they were absolutely amazing. Even I wanted more, this coming from someone who is not really a fan of pork chops. A++ recipe!!! A must try!
Oh I hope mine turn out good as yours Gloria. Mine are not as thick, probably only 1″ but I too want to make a good chop. Gonna try it tonight. I dont have a heave skillet I use my iron skillet for cornbread only, but will try my stainless steel large fry pan, sure hope it works. Will post and see if I can have a review that is good as well here is to trying.
Sounds great. I have these in the freezer and will try this week. Happy 4th Girl!!!
The recipe was spot on except I don’t like that much salt. Might have to adjust the cooking time also
I also added some garlic powder..
OMG I have never tasted pork this delicious. I added garlic powder and onion powder. This is my new go to pork chop recipe

Tried this recipe Thursday evening and I was skeptical of it because pork gets dry BUT I was sooo surprised with this. Super juicy and great tasting a definite make again.
