Juicy thick cut pork chops are simple to prepare and the result can rival any traditional beef steak. Learn how to make the perfect thick cut pork chops with this simple method.
Juicy thick cut pork chops are simple to prepare and the result can rival any traditional beef steak. I’m not even kidding! And they are way cheaper to buy too. I call them my secret weapon when it comes to feeding a crowd on a special occasion.
Making a perfect pork chop is completely easy. If you haven’t had a thick cut pork chop before, well, prepare to fall in love with pork chops. Those thin, flimsy chops you see all over the grocery store dry out easily and lack the complete flavor pork chops have to offer.
You can buy a thick cut chop at almost any grocery, but you’ll probably have to ask for it. Just head on over to the meat counter and ask for a 1 1/2 to 2 inch thick cut pork chop. If you’ve got a good butcher, they will probably smile at your request. Keeping the bone-in helps retain both flavor and moisture, and cutting it thick practically ensures a juicy result.
Have a smoker? I also have a post detailing How to Smoke A Thick Cut Pork Chop that you should check out. Smokers are an amazing way to cook almost any meat. If you don’t already have a smoker, you should seriously consider getting one.

These directions resulted in perfectly cooked pork chops.. that look exactly like a beef t-bone. Yummy, juicy, perfectly cooked.
I tried this method for dinner tonight and was pleasantly surprised at how tender and juicy my 2-inch chops turned out. I’ve never found a method that didn’t produce tough and dry chops. This will be my go-to quick but special dinner. No more avoiding thick chops. Thank you so very much.
This is the most delicious and easy recipe for pork chops ever! Perfect for a weeknight meal, Sunday dinner and company over for dinner! Love the flavor, moist and tender! Thank you!
Great simple directions ๐ love it
Thanks so much for posting this recipe! I’ve looked a long time to find the perfect formula for making thick, juicy pork chops. These were absolutely the best. Moist and flavorful throughout. Definitely rivals a beef steak. My hat’s off to you!
Turned out great. Only trouble is trying to get all the chops the same thickness. Will probably get a tenderloin roast and cut them the same thickness next time.
Cooked up a couple of 2โ thick chops following this recipe, seasoned with only salt and pepper. Wow, tasted just like steak. This will be the only way I cook chops from now on! Thanks
Very moist. When chops were done I deglazed the pan with butter for an amazing sauce to pour over the chops.
I made two thick chops using this recipe tonight…best port chops ever!! This technique is how I pan fry steaks and had never thought of using it for pork chops. The liberal use of salt made the pork so flavorful! I’ll never make pork chops any other way. Thank you.
Crockpot ribs
These ribs are the easiest to do even if you don’t want to broil at the end. They are fall of the bone and don’t end up in a pot of greasy liquid. However, the best part, for me, is the seasoning. I love it and make extra to use on chops, roasts, and chicken. Thanks for your recipes.
