This perfectly light and airy mousse is so easy to make and satisfies those strong Nutella cravings. I’m not the only one to get those, am I? I am a huge fan of Nutella so this dessert really hits the spot.
I love that this dessert comes together in just a few minutes. It all depends on how long it takes you to whip your cream. That’s it! You can eat it right away, but I like it best when it’s been chilled. It stays good in the fridge for several days, but is best when eaten fresh.
You can serve this in small bowls or shot glasses, but be forewarned that you are going to want to lick the dish clean and that is really hard to do with a shot glass.
I add sugar to the cream in this recipe because I like to serve it with a dollop of plain cream on top. Rather than make two separate batches of whipped cream, I simply add the sugar to the whole thing. If you are only going to make the Nutella Mousse (without the dollop of cream) then feel free to skip adding the sugar.

No, it probably won’t stay all fluffy for that long.
Can this be made ahead & frozen? Was considering for a wedding?
I haven’t tested that, but it might work. For a wedding, I recommend doing a test batch just to be sure.

How many servings does this make?
It makes about 4 cups of mousse. For some people that is only 1 serving. For others it can feed several.

I believe so. It’s the only powdered whipped cream I can think of.
It’s called dream-whip and whips up just like heavy cream. Should work fine.
Hi, I love Nutella. Can I use the mousse to ice a cake?
I wouldn’t recommend using it to ice a cake as is. It needs a stabilizer in it. You could replace the sugar with powdered sugar that will help. Bloom 1 tsp of gelatin in 1 tablespoon of cold water. Microwave it for 15-20 seconds until it runs clear and then add that in. That will provide the most stabilization.
Hi, I would like to know if you tried to use it as cake frosting and I would like to know how it went?
I use whipped cream with quick chocolate syrup all the time for frosting on a white cake we make. It’s delicious. I whip the cream very stiff with powdered sugar and add the quick syrup. Yum and very stable.
