Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook 1 pound spaghetti according to package directions until al dente.
Meanwhile, dice 2 large tomatoes. In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced 1/2 cup chopped fresh basil, minced 2 teaspoons minced garlic, and 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil. Stir to combine. Let sit and marinate until pasta is ready.
Drain the cooked pasta and add it to the bowl with the tomato mixture. Toss to combine.
Season with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste.
