Our uncomplicated ground beef taco recipe uses common spices you probably already have on hand to create an easy weeknight meal that everybody always loves.
Add 1 1/2 to 2 pounds ground beef. Use a spatula to break up the meat and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until it releases juices and starts to brown.
Add 1 medium white or yellow onion (diced), 2 teaspoons chili powder, 2 teaspoons paprika, 1 teaspoon ground cumin, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Stir to combine.
Continue cooking for 7 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully cooked and the onion is softened. Drain excess grease, leaving 1 to 2 tablespoons for added flavor.
Add 1/2 cup salsa, stir, and let simmer for 2 to 3 minutes to create a flavorful sauce.
Serve hot on 12 (8-inch) flour tortillas with desired toppings.
Notes
An 80/20 blend ground beef is your most flavorful option. It's okay to leave a tablespoon or two of grease in your tacos to add more flavor.
Instead of using the recipe's blend of taco seasoning spices, you can replace it with a 1-ounce taco seasoning packet, or 2 tablespoons from a jar.
