Green beans don’t have to be complicated. A little butter, a little S&P and you have something quite tasty. If you want to take it up a notch for a special occasion there’s no easier way than wrapping some up with prosciutto. Prosciutto is a dry-cured ham popular in Italian cuisine. You kind find it pretty easily in most grocery stores. Sometimes I find it in the specialty cheese section, and other times in the deli area. It doesn’t need to be cooked so it works great for doing things like wrapping green beans.
Time to Make It: 30 minutes
Yield: 8 bundles
Ingredients
1 pound fresh green beans, ends trimmed
4 pieces prosciutto
3 TB butter, melted (preferably Plugra Salted Butter)
salt and pepper
Instructions
1. Place the green beans into a steamer and steam until soft-tender, about 15 to 20 minutes.
2. Place the green beans in a large mixing bowl or on a large baking sheet. Drizzle with melted butter and season with salt and pepper, to taste.
3. Slice the prosciutto in half, lengthwise. Divide the green beans into 8 bundles. Gently tie the bundles together with a prosciutto slice.
4. Serve while still warm.
How delicious is this Rachel. I love both prosciutto and green beans. Winning combination!
I love green beans. It's probably my favorite green vegetables and wrapped with prosciutto makes its a million times better!
My then-boyfriend and I ate similar green beans during a fancy dinner our first Valentine's weekend together. I think I'll re-create part of that dinner (without the whole 'castle in Germany' part) for him. Thank you!
Rachel,
I had such fun poking around your blog today I'll talking about green beans on your About page! Thanks for moving my comment to the proper recipe! It's such a good-looking recipe, and I'm excited to surprise my spouse. Thanks!
This recipe looks wonderful and I can see these green beans being the showcase side dish for a dinner party. Well done!
