School is out for the summer in my neck of the woods! Now it’s all about those lazy days of summer. Picnics, grilling, and backyard barbecues are all here baby! Yesterday I had my first reunion of the summer with a handful of families that all used to live in the same isolated, small town in California. We lived there for 4 years. It’s a town 90 minutes from anywhere, and let me tell you, the people there bond. It’s like going to war together. You become friends for life.
A few months ago I was able to participate in one of the coolest things ever. I got to do one of those TV shows where I surprised a friend with help they needed. It just so happened that we surprised one of those amazing families from that same small town in the middle of the California desert. You can watch it HERE. Their daughter was admitted to the PICU during the wee hours of Christmas morning and was in a coma for weeks. Just a few weeks after she finally got out of the hospital, Random Acts TV helped me surprise them with the Christmas of their dreams. Guys, it is seriously the coolest thing I’ve ever done. We decked their apartment out with Christmas decorations and filled their apartment with every present we could think of. There were Christmas carolers and professionally decorated trees out front. It was magical. You simply have to go watch it because it’s amazing. Bonus, you can watch me bawl my eyes out on cable television. I told the producers to make me look good, but I think all the footage they had of me was tears after tears after tears.
What does this have to do with the weekly meal plan? Nothing. But hey, it’s my blog! 🙂 I’ll fill your soul with inspirational TV and then you can go fill your tummy with all these amazing recipes from my blogging friends.
